After a two-year hiatus following the Covid-19 pandemic, operations on children from developing countries have resumed at the Cardio-Thoracic Centre of Monaco, thanks to the Monaco Collectif Humanitaire (MCH) and its donors.
Three children from Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Burundi were recently operated on thanks to the new cardio-paediatric team composed by Professor Sylvie Di Filippo and Doctors Olivier Metton, Olivier Raisky, Stefano di Bernardo, Nicolas Durand, Catherine Binet and Aude Missana.
As a symbol of the resumption of cardio-paediatric activity, on July 26th, the Cardio-Thoracic Centre of Monaco and the MCH welcomed, alongside the children who had undergone surgery, a number of donors including Mrs Yvette Lambin-Berti, Secretary General of the Monegasque Olympic Committee and Mr Etienne Franzi, President of the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque (CMB) who sponsored the “Six Star Medal” of Pascal Camia, General Manager of the Société des Bains de Mer, the first Monegasque to finish the 6 major marathon races, to the tune of 42,195 €. This donation was also collected thanks to the participation of footballer Olivier Giroud, MCH Ambassador.
On this occasion, the Monaco Aide et Presence association was also present, as well as Rencontres Africaines and the Monegasque Red Cross, which play an important role in the surgical treatment of children.
Humanitarian cardio-paediatric operations have long been an integral part of the Centre’s philosophy and are a source of great commitment from all our staff.
