Daily life

All the Cardiothoracic Centre’s teams are at your disposal to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

 

What to bring
for your stay?

Your medical documents

all medical documents relating to examinations carried out in other establishments: CT scan, X-ray, ECG, ultrasound, and in particular coronary angiography or angioplasty videos, regardless of the medium (USB stick, CD-ROM, etc.)

your letters and reports

your blood type card and your latest blood tests

your personal medication including eye drops, with a copy of the prescription.

Your personal belongings

nightgowns or pyjamas, with front opening to facilitate care and examinations. A bathrobe or dressing gown

slippers

underwear (including comfortable wireless bras)

Your toiletries (towels and table linen are provided by our establishment, and a hairdryer is available in each bathroom).

Please note

Specific electrical and electronic devices will only be authorized after validation by our technical team.

Perfume and nail polish must be removed before any examination or intervention.

Please avoid bringing valuables with you.

Your room

All the rooms have been designed to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as
possible, while optimizing the medical team’s work.
If you wish to have a private room, you will be charged a « private sector » supplement.

Your personal belongings

Your glasses, watch, wedding ring and any object you wish to keep with you in intensive care will be placed in a box, labeled with your name, which will be given to you after surgery. The same applies to dental or hearing aids.
Until you return to your room, your personal belongings will be protected in a bag, and kept under lock and key.

Please note

If you deposit money or valuables in the Centre’s safe, please contact a nurse on your ward who will tell you how to proceed. Only valuables deposited in the safe are insured. Deposits and withdrawals are made Monday to Friday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Meals

In the rooms or in the restaurant

Every day, our Chef and his catering team prepare meals which are served in the rooms and in the restaurant. A choice of varied and balanced menus will be offered to you and your relatives. Each day, the dietician will guide you in choosing your meals for the following day. On the day of your arrival, you will be served the daily menu adapted to your diet.

Before certain examinations or procedures, you will need to have an empty stomach; a light meal may be served to you in the hours which follow.

The various diets prescribed by the medical team are established by the dietician. He / she is at your disposal to take into account your possible future diet, and review your dietary preferences (prohibited related to religion or beliefs).

Restaurant

Located on the ground floor, it is at the disposal of your visitors and accompanying persons.

Opening hours (except special events) :

  • Breakfast served from 9.00 am
  • Lunch from 12.00pm
  • Afternoon snack

 

Services and personal requests

Telephone

On the day of your arrival, you will be given a card with your direct telephone number.
From your room you can reach reception by dialling 9.
Your relatives can call you.
A direct line is reserved for you during your stay.
If you do not wish to receive phone calls, please inform reception by dialling 9 or inform the nurse to ensure that the necessary steps are taken.

Internet

A free WIFI access code will be given to you on request.

TV

A TV is at your disposal.

Mail

Mail, faxes and e-mails that you may receive will be forwarded to you each day, in your room, on receipt. Outgoing mail can be left at the reception desk on the 6th floor before 4.30pm.

Press

You can order newspapers and magazines in advance from the reception desk by dialling 9. They will be invoiced at the cost price, with no supplement, when you are discharged.

Worship

You can ask the nurse for the presence of a representative of your religious denomination.

Hairdressing, beauty treatments (at your expense)

With the agreement of the medical team, you may use the hairdresser or beautician of your choice.
